A light goes out

Jonathon Barber

Jono's body was recovered by divers this morning, just before lunch. His father and stepmother were there at the time, and say that he looked so peaceful and seems to be frozen in time. He was 18 years old. I cannot begin to know what his parents are feeling. I have never lost an 18 year old son. The world is a darker place right now.

One of the worse pains in all life has to be a parent having to bury a child. I'm glad they found him and at least have closure on that.
Were there other siblings?

Oh, how dreadful. He looks such a bonnie, nice lad, too. I don't know how his parents will ever recover from that. The very worst thing that could happen. It puts one's moans into perspective. Very very sad.

Dearest Linds,

I've just now read your last few posts...how very sad. In a way, a relief that his body was found but in another, despair that he didn't survive. So very heartbreaking for the family and friends. Bless your heart for taking part in the search...as you say, people can be so giving of their time when something like this happens. Sending you big hugs. xoxo

My heart is breaking for this family that lost their beloved son. No one knows what they are going through unless they have lost a child too. May God give them strength at this most difficult time.

I am wondering how in the world this happened! So incredibly sad. I have gone through this long tunnel of despair with a good friend and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law who both lost sons at 18 or 19. It seems to be a precarious times for young men! I feel so bad for them and for you and your son.

I am so sad. Shan's Ed was 19 when he was killed and it is always so tragic to lose someone so very young and when they still have their whole lives ahead of them. He will live on in your hearts and minds. Love and hugs.

I was so hoping that it would not turn up as it did. I pray for strength and acceptance for the family and friends during these difficult times. It is a tragic loss.
