The fog, it comes rolling in....

You have to be quick here...the fog comes rolling up from the valley so fast, and the sun disappears rapidly....
These were taken in the late afternoon. Well about 4pm I think. I was walking home from the mountain base.

And this one just happens to be my favourite. Somehow, a random photo became spectacular. To me, I hasten to add. I just love seeing the mountain soaring out of the clouds!

And today it is snowing. It has been snowing since the middle of the night and will do for the rest ofthe day I think. But when it stops, and the blue skies appear, it will be Engelberg at its very best.
I am supposed to be making the mince pies (fruit). That was until I got the pastry I made yesterday out of the fridge. It is supposed to be chilled. Not as hard as a rock. Right now it could be used to build a wall. So everything is lined up and ready, and the pastry has to soften. Just a bit. Sigh.
We were going down the mountain today to do some shopping, but the snow is too heavy, and there was ice on the roads round Luzern and many accidents, so we are here, and my sister is making some Christmas presents. I am watching snowflakes drift down. The huge tree outside the window looks as if it is sculpted from ice. Beautiful.
I am off to poke the pastry to see if it is soft enough. Have a great day, and turn up that Christmas music!

  1. Wow Linds,

You are truly having a WHITE CHRISTMAS!! These pictures are amazing and I am with you, I love that last one, it is just magical. I am excited for you to be there experiencing Gods majesty so many miles away. It reminds me of how small the world is to Him and how we matter in His eyes. Have a wonderful and magical day. The house is going to smell so yummy.

    Love and Hugs, Laurie

  2. Snowing here, too, but it's not as lovely as the snow there. Oh how exquisitely beautiful it all is.

Yes, Christmas music! Just the ticket to get me going.

Hope that pastry softens and the mince pies turn out wonderfully!

  3. It sounds like you are in your heaven! Love the pictures - you captured it perfectly. It snowed her overnight too so I must set out for school earlier to accomodate driving conditions. And I have outside supervision today - yuck!

Hope the pies turned out perfectly! You asked about my header - it's a quilt I have hanging on my wall. I fell in love with it at a charity auction a few years ago and purchased it for me!

It will be a wonderful day for making pies. You'll be toasty warm and surrounded by luscious smells while looking out at the snowflakes.

    Enjoy the day.

Your sister's home decorations are amazing. Makes me want to get my villages set up, almost, but time ran out on me this year. I love all the little decorations tucked here and there. Have a wonderful time with her! Merry Christmas!!

  12. Thanks for coming by my tour and leaving such a fun comment.

YES - - - I see there are 861 entries now in BooMama's tour. I'm on 172 as of this morning - - - I really do want to get to them all and leave comments. At this rate, about 10 - 20 each time I sit down at the computer - - - I MIGHT be finished by the time I retire.

Did you get your wooden candle tree through Current??? That's where I got mine - - - I ordered it back in the good old fashioned catalog days.

Here's my NEXT dilemma: How will we decided which of these lovely new friends (861 of them!) we will try to stay in bloggy touch with? I mean - - - that's A LOT of new friends!!!

Oh - - - and while I'm trying to get in touch with all of them - - - my tried and true Bloggy friends are getting left out.

  13. I would love to be sitting by a fireplace with you, watching the snow come down, having a spot of tea, and waiting for the piecrust to soften! I have the music on, but have much to do. (These pictures remind me of our trips to the slopes for Kev, Sema, and DC to ski while I sit in the room by the fire, watching the snow sift down). BTW - Sema has posted a new one on turning 30 - it's well done. If you have a minute, you can link from my latest post.

We're having 30 for a SS party Saturday night, our new fridge is coming that morning, we have choir practice in the afternoon, DC is delivering baskets to people in church who need them, and we have all of the Carlson clan coming on Sunday night, after the cantata - 4 staying here. And my laptop is being cleared of all problems, hopefully, and started over. What a busy week! I had the kiddoes all day yesterday so Kristen could Christmas shop and shop for her birthday gifts with her gift cards. She had a good day - me, I'm exhausted!

Well, I didn't mean to write a book. I'm just SO glad you're there, soaking in God's glory, and feeding your soul - away from the daily grind of knee problems, etc.
