Bump's quilt....

The Bump's first quilt is done. First, I say, because there will be one for the cot too and play mats.....sigh....this is such fun! I am really hoping the scans have all been right and that she is a "she", or I will have to do some serious emergency sewing, because, as you can see, it is seriously PINK. The squares are random, and 99% of the fabric was from my considerable stash. Considerable means "can last at least 3 lifetimes without a problem". And the fabric for the cot one, which is more complicated in design, is sitting on my cutting table waiting to be cut. I may do that later.
Physio was another 40 mins of exertion ending in exhaustion. The new set of exercises is really punishing, and whoever invented wobble boards should be hung out to dry. You know what I mean, those circular discs you stand on with half a ball under the centre. My skills on it are totally lacking. But I do believe every muscle in my leg gets a workout, so maybe they are there for a good reason. I do look at it with a very baleful eye though. I am great with challenges, and I really push myself to do better each time, but that thing.....pah! Let's see what Thursday brings, when I attempt to master "that thing" again.
So, apart from helping Margaret to finish her quilt for her grandchild, due a few weeks after the Bump, I have achieved very little today. But that is fine. I need to go and curl up on the couch and do nothing for a while.
Or I can go and cut out the cot quilt, of course....

  1. It's lovely Linds. Jane has asked me to make a new play mat for her new baby. At least I know what colour to make it this time.

Mine won't be all patchwork though.

  2. It is just lovely, Linds. Oh...dread the thought that the scan would be wrong. Can you imagine????

I think I would fail that balance ball as well. They simply LOOK dangerous.

  3. I love the quilt, Linds. It is beautiful. I wish it were one of my talents too. Alas, sewing is a labor for me that I rarely attempt in order to avoid further failure.

Can't wait to see that darling girl wrapped up in this lovely blanket made by her grandmum. : )

  4. What beautiful work you do! I've been inspecting and those stitches are perfection. Are those scans ever wrong? Nah! I've never heard of such a thing.

Can't even imagine myself on one of those boards...let us know how it goes on Thursday...perhaps it's one of those things that you see progress every time.

  5. Such a precious and perfect quilt for your new granddaughter. Nope, the scans would have showed "outie-parts" by now:) Can't hardly wait to see her wrapped up in this. Take care of your knee sweetie and I am praying it gets much better for you. You do beautiful work and this is a great achievement. What's more important than a grandbaby?:) Nothing!!!

    Love and Hugs, Laurie

  9. Just gorgeous! I could never do that. Do you machine or hand stitch the squares? Just curious.

I did physical therapy for 6 weeks when I hurt my foot so badly 4 years ago - those balancing things are brutal!

  10. Well done. The quilt looks lovely - actually it looks rather like some-one very talented made it. If I popped over do you think I could get a lesson or two - or three hundred (that's how bad me and a sewing needle get along - sigh).

Every time you are on that wretched thing visualize a strong, healthy, mountain climbing knee.Proud of you.

  14. It's a beautiful quilt, Linds. What a gift of love to create for this new granddaughter. She will use it for her own children too and think of you so often.

Good luck with the next round of physio - and 'the thing'! Meadow can stand on the one at her house but I dare not attempt it for fear of breaking a bone!

  19. It's adorable, Linds. And very, very pink! I love the different fabrics you put together - amazing you had such great coordinating prints in your stash.

I guess if the wobble thing is helping, it's worth it, but it does sound a little scary. I'd probably fall off it and injure myself worse. LOL

Let me guess. "Cot" is what we call a crib or babybed, right?
