Warning....

Just a quick warning, people. Even though I am super vigilant and never open strange attachments, have a very powerful antivirus and all the rest, my computer has been invaded by a mega virus which has eaten its hard drive and everything I did not have backed up is history. I have run multiple iprogrammes in the past 48 hours and it is gone, but now I am restoring it to factory settings and waving goodbye to the parts I didn't save. Including all the birthday photos.  I don't trust it at all.

So stop what you are doing right now and BACK UP EVERYTHING AT ONCE. I am on Jean's computer right now. I am tempted to take an axe to mine. What possesses these people who create such destruction?

Oh. And on the let's get the bad news out of the way front, some wretched disease is killing all my potatoes in the garden. Things are not working out well this weekend.

That is all.

  1. So sorry to hear your wretched news Linds. Computer viruses are the dreaded end - and as a lay person one is just totally helpless. The people who set these things off are really evil people. I'm sure they can have no idea what misery they inflict on us all.
I hope very much that things will look up from here....

Something is working on our garden peppers too!

  4. Thank you for the reminder ... it's been months since I've backed up. The pictures are the sadest of all to lose.

  6. Ugh! I have taken to keeping copies stuff I really want to keep online, using a mix of Dropbox for documents, Flickr for photos and Evernote for random stuff. That way if I have a computer disaster it is still all out there somewhere.

  7. Oh how maddening! I am so sorry that this has happened. I try to have the photos I want printed off, but that's not the total answer either. Sigh. Maybe it really is time for Carbonite or some such site.

  8. They are evil, and I think they get a great deal of pleasure out of wreaking havoc. I am so sorry!! That is really scary.
