Signs of spring out in the garden.......

There are signs of Spring today, even though the day started out damp and grey and chilly. The sun is beginning to shine and I just popped out into the garden because I saw a flash of pink on the camellia bush.

And look! The first flower is out. They only last a day or so before they die, but there will be many many flowers on the bush this year. It is covered with buds. The snowdrops are over, but the crocus is blooming......
And the legions of ladybirds have returned. They saved my apple tree from some kind of fungus last year - they ate it all, and so they are very welcome, even if they are not the UK ladybird any more. These are the other kind. I think. But, hey, if they do their job, I can live with them.
The daffs inside the house are beginning to wilt. I need to get more and the ones in the garden should be open soon, but they look so good out there, I hate to cut them and bring them in!

Later....

The sun is here at last and the washing is out, blowing about. A quiet day today, but that is not a bad thing. Maybe some knitting now, I think, or a snooze little reading. So what are you all up to this weekend?

  1. Well, I have just been reading about the devastation of the tornados yesterday and that has set me back. I don't feel like pushing furniture around anymore.

Still, I have already hauled out the vacuum and the Steam-It so I will. And pray.

Love to see that your garden is in bloom despite the gray and cold. What cute little ladies chomping on whatever they chomp on. I can almost see their sunbonnets.

Enjoy your read, snooze, snack, whatever you are doing this day.

  2. I have always loved the crocus. I am like you in that I hate to cut the flowers to bring them in because they look so pretty in the garden. It's a real dilemma.

As I write, I am babysitting while my daughter and son-in-law have a night out! It's a pleasure really because I get to have some time with Little Pink Flower, so it's a win/win situation!

  5. Your garden is looking so beautiful! Mine is still covered in drifts :) We took my parents and an aunt and uncle on a road trip to Calgary to see our son and his wife in their new home, our niece, and our daughter and grandkids. It was lots of fun being together for 6 hours in the car! I'm so glad I got to do this with them.
