It worked.....

So the day arrived, and it all worked beautifully. The heavens opened at 2pm and it poured, but by 2.30, the rain had stopped and the sun started appearing, and the bride looked absolutely beautiful, and a lovely, happy wedding took place in our village at 3pm. She was the first of our friends' children to have a village wedding so far. The other weddings have been in places away from home.

Everything went smoothly. To avoid everyone having to drive to the reception, a coach had been arranged, and I dashed over to the hall to make sure it was ready after the wedding, and had just enough time to light all the candles before the guests poured in the doors. A little earlier than anticipated, but it was fine.

And most important of all, the bride and groom had a wonderful day to remember, and we were all a part of a very special, happy celebration of their marriage.
What did I wear? Well, at 2pm, my bedroom resembled a jumble sale. I think every possible thing I could have worn was in a heap on the bed. Then I unearthed a 3 piece trouser suit thingy in olive green from the bowels of the cupboard. Silky stuff. I am very accurate and technical here, as you can see. I found a silk scarf in various shades of green, and swished that around the neck, slapped on some makeup, sorted the hair, and was out of here. I did actually stop some random strangers going into a shop to ask if the scarf was a fashion disaster or not. They assured me it was perfect, so I hobbled off to the church. In my old, battered flat black shoes, because fashion items on the feet would have been a little stupid. And anyway, no-one was going to notice.
And I can report that carrying a bag, using a crutch and trying to take photos at the same time is an unfortunate combination. My normally excellent co-ordination went for a loop. The wildly swinging crutch was a minor irritation to those close by. But we all survived.
And a wonderful time was had by all. I left as the band struck up and headed home for bed. I need to work on the staying power.

  2. LOL! Love those descriptions! And you asked strangers about your wardrobe? Too funny! I can tell from your detailed description of same that you were beautiful. I think you'd look beautiful in olive green...a perfect complement to your hair and coloring.

Ahhhhh, everything at the wedding looks beautiful. The bride is lovely, the groom handsome, the guests all smiles. Perfect!

  4. It sounds like it was a perfect day and everything looked beautiful.

I was in stitches as I read your clothing fiasco. I can really relate to clothes strewn about as nearly every piece is given a chance to win the lottery of being worn! Can't you just see each piece crying out "pick me, pick me." And, oh, the envy when the final piece is selected. Ha!

  5. Hi Linds,
Everything looks just amazing! It must have been a day to remember for the happy couple.
I laughed and laughed at your wardrobe dilemma.
I'm choosing only things that look well with athletic shoes. (so fashionable, right??)
At least it's summertime and I can look sort of "sporty" even if I'm only going from point A to point B!!
    xo

  7. Everything looks so pretty and the people picture shows lots of happiness - the perfect mix for a wedding! And your outfit sounds just fine. What the guests wear is not really that important, is it?!! You sound like quite the target with your crutches and camera - but it doesn't matter as long as you got the pictures :))

Have a restful Sunday! Do you now have to disassemble everything? That's usually quite the production too!

  9. Linds, Thanks for a beautiful tour of the wedding. Your flowers are exquisite, and so right for the reception hall, but your search for something appropriate to wear, that huge mound of not quite rights heaped upon your bed, priceless!

I know what you mean about your crutches. One worries they may inconvenience others. I think we're doing them a favor, helping them slow down a bit in this too fast world.

  11. Perfectly lovely, Linds. The bride and groom are beaming and the tables look beautiful.

I looked for an email address so I could answer your question from my comments, but I couldn't locate one for you.

Okra is a vegetable that is grown in many Southern gardens. Delicious stuff, especially breaded and fried. You can Google "okra" images and see all kinds of pictures of it.

    Have a great new week!

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  13. Glad everything went well. How resourceful are you - being able to pull an outfit together like that?

When do you get back to school?

Hope you can get a few days of 'you' time before then.
