Physio affects the mind......

Physio. I went. I ache.

She said - "How is the pain?" and I said "I will take care of the pain and you take care of the mobility. Deal?" And we got moving. I just needed a nap right afterwards. More on Thursday, followed by a visit to the orthopaedic consultant. No news yet re the pain specialist. And the exercises continue.

Here is a useful tip to improve the thigh muscles - I can't remember if it is adductor or abductor thingys. One of them, anyway. While you are on the computer, stuff a cushion or a rolled up towel between your legs and squeeze them together, holding for 10 secs. Repeat 10 times. Or, if you are like me, as many as you can do. It is supposed to work really well. That is always supposing your thigh muscles need attention, of course. I am sure you are all as sleek as racehorses and as fit as well. Of course.

However, a little exercise while blogging means it is healthy, doesn't it???? I am all for the healthy option here.

To recover from the physio, I popped into the shops and hobbled around a bit, and looked at the toys. Toys? I am going to be a Granny remember! So I did what every self-respecting Granny would do - I bought a dolly with a stroller and car seat and changing mat in a set. Well, it was Fisher Price and it was 25% off, and hey, I NEED to buy a doll for my granddaughter! I do. So the Bump has her first doll. Sigh. Maybe I need to make the doll a quilt. Or a blanket. Or a dress......

I think the physio affected my mind.

  1. Linds, I tried it, I did, that exercise for thighs. But my posting may suffer, for I couldn't concentrate on counting the seconds and type at the same time.

I tried a firm cushion, but it kept slipping, and I almost landed on the floor. I switched to a towel. Did sets like you said, and may try it again. Could I become the first granny ever to have firm thighs?

I understand your rush of shopping for the "Bump". It was probably good therapy, for it's hard to think about problems when you're surrounded by toys and other baby stuff. A grandson and I used to build castles with the cushions from my living room furniture. We crawled all around, and over and under them. It was lots of fun until one day he bumped my upper arm, and said: "Grand Ma, your arm feels like jello." Get ready for very honest comments from the little one.

  3. I might try the cushion thing but there again it probably will not fit under my two tier computer desk. Does it work as well if one is not blogging?

25 bags of pasta - do you think you should be contacting the Guiness Book of records?

    Diving for Crayfish sounds wonderful.

  4. Sounds like your week is off to a grand start!! I'll have to try that exercise. Getting fit while blogging may just fit into my schedule :))

Ah, yes - shopping for the grandkids! It's so, so much fun! This morning while Miss H was getting her hair cut, I found some necklaces, bracelets and hair clips for the girls' stockings. I need to enlarge the stockings, I think!!!

  5. Sounds like a great idea, except that my lap is full of my computer - I keep telling myself I'm going to work on my underarm flab when I'm not doing anything else. Ha.

Judith's remark tickled me, because I've had very similar remarks from the girls - but aren't grandmas supposed to be soft and cushy??

I'll have to try the adductor/abductor whatever between the legs thing LOL

  7. Sleek as a racehorse here reporting in...ROFL! Okay, okay, so how could you possibly know that my thighs need attention? Was it something in my voice? Okay, off to find a towel and hoping to goodness that the Mr. doesn't find me here with it.

  8. I'm afraid it's going to take a little more than clenching my thighs together to get me into anything remotely approaching sleek racehorse status.

Good luck with it and I hope the aches and pains now are totally worth the results later.

    Love and hugs,

    Diane

  9. Of course I am as fit as can be - which is why the thought of doing that exercise while blogging just seems like too much :-)
Just think how fit you'll be when this is all over.
I have tried desperately to get my granddaughters interested in dolls - without success. I still buy them, as much for me as for them I think. Isn't it fun buying all those little girly things? I think a little quilt would be perfect.

  10. I'm with Linda--that dolly needs a quilt!!

And I had to laugh at the racehorse metaphor too. I love horses. You inspire me!!

  11. Sleek as a racehorse that's been sent to the glue factory - that's me!

And I can see the Bump will certainly not be wanting for much of anything. Why not purchase her first car now? :>)

  12. I wont lie - my thighs could possibly do with a little firming up. I wonder if I could find a way to get one under each arm and do the chicken dance while typing - You know what? I am going to give it a go!

As for the dolly - you go granny. I find it hard to walk past the little outfits and there is no bumps on my near horizon. Sigh!!!!!!!

  13. I must try the thigh exercise! Although my new boss already thinks I'm strange because I strengthen my thigh muscles by doing leg lifts with an oven mitt wrapped round my ankle with a can of beans in each mitt pocket - if he catches me with the cushion exercise he might just panic, bless him!
    Good luck with the physio!

  14. My granddaughter calls me jelly belly. Is there an exercise for that while blogging?!

You go Granny! It is a grannies duty to buy all sorts of things for their grandchildren whether they need it or not!!! I especially like to buy things that make lots of noise and then send it home to their house! lol!

    Linds,
The physio is having an incredible mental effect on you! Future talk coming from you...and what better talk than grandbaby talk! I have made quilts for each of my grandchildren and they treasure them..almost as much as I do. I'm so excited for you as you have found an answer to your knee problems. In this Thanksgiving season here in the States...I'm thankful to God for the new doctor that you have seen and for the wonderful progress that you are currently experiencing. Get with it girl!

  17. You sound like my mom! She went out and bought for my little one long before she was born! She has no lack for all things pink! Sounds like you'll be a wonderful granny!
Praying that the physio works for you!

  18. I do like the idea of exercising while computing. I'm all about multitasking!!! And, heaven knows that my thighs could use the help.

I think that dolly needs a quilt. Be sure you post a photo of it when you are finished. Every little girl needs a doll. Who better than a granny to give her the first one? You are going to have so much fun with that little girl.

  21. I love the thought that I could get some exercise while blogging. I love the thought that should I have time to blog lately, I could exercise.
Mostly, as I catch up on blogs that I miss while having family visit - and a head cold - I wonder, Why do you have a saw in your kitchen?
Please! Don't use it on the leg!
Ha - I'm sure it's for another, very benign purpose. Like building a dollhouse for grandbaby? :)
