Choosing to look at my world with different eyes...

Today you get a list. As I look around and take stock of my world, I have a choice about what to focus on, and as I am human, I do tend to dwell far too long on the negatives.

However, there are too many other wonderful factors to stay "on the dark side" for long!!
  1. The sun is just starting to peek through the grey clouds today
  2. My daughter cycled over the Golden Gate Bridge (getting a tad sunburnt, as she said) and had a spectacular day
  3. My vegetables are having a massive growth spurt and are popping up all over the place
  4. I didn't have the IVG yesterday because my consultant and I want to see how I can survive without it
  5. So that means I can drive today
  6. Diana arrives on Sunday morning!
  7. Missy (my name for the Bump here on the blog) can roll from her front to her back and is absolutely gorgeous (sorry no photos as per her parents' request)
  8. The lilac is in full bloom and the scent is wonderful
  9. I put out 4 bags of clothing for the Salvation Army Collection this morning
  10. The washing machine continues to work and is whirring away as I speak
  11. I have food in the cupboards, and my lettuce is ready to pick fresh from the garden
  12. I have my son here to carry some heavy bags of compost
  13. Skype is fantastic - especially when I can watch a little granddaughter play
  14. Digital cameras - what would we do without them??
  15. I have so many friends around the world who are ready to pray for my family
  16. I realise and trust that things happen for a reason
  17. And that the timing will always be right, just not necessarily MY timing
  18. And that my friends here are real friends who reach out
  19. I will have all 3 of my children, my daughter-in-law and my granddaughter in the same place at the same time on Sunday!
  20. I know my leg may not get better. And I choose to focus on the fact that at least I can move. Remember that doctor who said I will never walk in the mountains and never crawl on the floor with my grandchildren???? Wrong on both counts. We will not dwell on how long it took to walk on the mountain, or how I actually got UP from the floor, but hey, I did it!

So there you have it. I am smiling today. And I will be tomorrow too. And the next day....

  1. There is always plenty to be thankful for if we look. I hope your time with the whole family will be a very blessed time. I wish I had some of your lilacs to take a whiff of them.

  2. This is beautiful Linds and I am smiling right along with you. It sure sounds like your Mothers Day this Sunday is going to be great!! I sure hear you on getting up after being on the floor with the grandkids. I have to crawl to the nearest sturdy object and pray my knee doesn't decide to lock up! I hope this month "slows down" for you so you can enjoy every moment with your "Lovey's". Praying for you.

    Love and Hugs, Laurie

  3. What wonderful thoughts this morning. It is good to dwell on the positive.

I have had all 4 kids all week, and I don't get on the floor too much - not a pretty sight getting back up. It's a good thing nobody can see me trying to get out of the tub - which is why I take showers!

We're having a third sunny day in a row - YAY!!

Mother's Day sounds wonderful. I don't think ours will be anything out of the ordinary - Kristen is sick, we feted Mom last week-end (already!) and I just want to be alone, but don't think that's gonna happen!

Have a wonderful day and week-end!

  4. Wouldn't it be funny to have a video of all of us grandmothers getting back to our feet? I'm laughing just thinking about it. My efforts involve rising to one knee and then shoving mightily off of said knee with one hand atop the other of all things. Then I wonder why everything...my knee, my wrist, even my ankles...are so sore. Ahhhh, "Growing Old Ain't for Wimps" as they say.

Missy is such a cute name for the blog and far better than "the bump," which was all well and good when she was a bump. I'm certain that she is more than adorable and all the way to the most preciously beautiful grandgirlie in all the world. (I'd just like to take this opportunity to remind you that I have two eligible bachelor grandboys in all the world. Ha!)

Your daughter knows how to grab the gusto. Yay for cycling across the Golden Gate! I do hope that there'll be photos of that!

I'm taking your list to heart and will earnestly try to walk on the sunny side today.

  10. Loving your list and knowing I have to do the same each day. Maybe I should blog one as well...when I get all the other things done. But the hubs did his one "home" job today - mowed the lawn! Can't believe how happy that makes me. :)
