Glowing world

Yesterday (after another back breaking session in the garden) David helped me take more loads to the tip to recycle, and on the way home, the light of the setting sun down in the valley near the river was so beautiful, that I had to go home and get my camera and take some photos. The sheep look as though they are glowing!

In autumn and spring, the sun is golden and everything is bathed in this amazing light. I took 53 photos while avoiding both sheep droppings and sheep. In about 15 minutes. The sun set at a really rapid pace too. I had not realised just how quickly it drops below the horizon.

This is where I used to walk Bailey, our border collie, who died a few years ago. It is a really peaceful place to go and walk around the lake. Unless you have a border collie who thinks she needs to arrange the sheep neatly in a little group. Which she did on one memorable occasion. And moved them 2 fields away from where they were in the beginning. The farmer thought it was hilarious. I thought she was going to bring the flock home to my house.

I think those sheep remember me. And Bailey. If you could have seen the looks I got from them as I tiptoed over the grass between them.........

Love those radioactive sheep! Actually, I just like sheep. They're soothing sort of beasties - one feels their lives are simple. Or they would be if people didn't keep eating them, I suppose.

Cats, now. Their lives are very simple. I want to be a cat.

Have you considered maybe finding a way to make a living with your photography, Linds? Your photos are amazing and my poor brother (gone to our Father now) contacted Hallmark and actually got a contract with them to provide photos for cards.

You could so do that.

I wanted to tell you, re the Monte Cristo sandwiches, I'm tickled pink you're going to make them. Don't let the whole "fried sandwich" thing scare you. These are seriously good sandwiches. And well worth blowing your calaries for one day. LOL

Just limit yourself to chicken broth the next day and you'll be fine. :-)

Such wonderful shots! It's so nice that you have such a lovely place to walk (even while avoiding sheet droppings!)

The Cosby episode you referred to over at MG's story was the very first episode ever. Loved it! Love it every time I see it.

We inherited both of our kids' cats when they moved into places they couldn't have pets - they had both acquired them after they left home and COULD have pets in their places. We grew quite attached, though I have never been a cat person. My husband got very attached, especially to Judas, the off-white manx. Beautiful cat. But I never though I could like a cat, and was quite surprised. But I like the freedom of not having a pet at all - our only dog is buried in our back yard and we still miss him often.

I watch Cosby reruns all the time. The way I learned that particular episode was the first was one week-end when they were doing a marathon of the shows and did the first and last ones on the same night. The last one is when Theo graduated from college. That show will never be replaced with anything near its quality.

NO, not too many log cabins in Britain anywhere, probably!
