Angels were in action today......

Another gloriously sunny Spring day here today. Just beautiful.

And it may well have been my last day. I came SO close to being broadsided by some lunatic who overtook a queue of cars at a roundabout - which I happened to be circling at the time, perfectly legally. All I know is that one minute I was driving round the roundabout and then the next, all I saw was blue. The other car was blue. All all I heard was hooting. Everyone else in the queue thought I was about to be wiped out.

How I managed to take sufficient avoiding action by slamming on the brakes, and veering onto the roundabout, as he wildly tried to swing away from me, I do not know. But the angels were out in force and the cars, even though a millimetre apart, did not collide. Thank God.

I got round the roundabout and stopped and so did all the other people, who came to see if I was all right, so I promptly burst into tears, and just sat there shaking. The man did stop and came running back to see if I was ok, saying - it was all my fault, I am so sorry.

Yes. Well. I was in a state of shock, but drove on a way and then stopped around the corner and just sat there. And eventually got to the garden centre I was heading for, and had coffee. I was a gibbering wreck. I couldn't even work out the money, but the waitress was a star, and sorted it all. And after a rest, I went and spent money on plants. Just because I could. I am still alive. So I bought plants. Perfectly logical to me.

I came home, and repotted all the new plants, and watered the garden, and then just sat outside and enjoyed the moment. This is what I have talked about before, isn't it...... everything can change in the blink of an eye. Today it didn't. I am very very lucky.

Oh my goodness Linds...what a fright you must have had..
...and did the dreadful man explain why he had behaved like a lunatic? Honestly, people like that shouldn't be allowed on the road...
I hope you have a peaceful weekend in the garden (which is what I'm wishing for myself) and that you have no more excitement!

Except that it really did change, didn't it? You're not going to enter a roundabout without thinking about this incident or perhaps even when geting into the car. These close calls have a way of getting our attention pretty quickly. It reminds me of Ann's recent post about recognizing that God is holding everything together.

I am amazed that the driver in the blue car returned to apologize. That's unheard of here. He'd have been long gone in a ball of dust. Sounds as if you live in a community of concerned citizens.

Glad that you were able to shop and garden and carry on. You have nerves of steel even if you don't know it. I'd have gone straight to bed.

Lindsey, you're not lucky because you didn't get hit by a car. You're lucky because you know you're lucky! Here's hoping the weekend is a lot more soothing...

Oh wow close call is right. So glad you are all right and just only shaken up a bit. Gardening is good for the soul so get out there and plant away!
Hugs!!

Wow. So glad you are ok and that he did not hit you. And amazing that he came back to check on you. I would definitely been a blithering idiot after something like that. Hope your weekend is more relaxing.

OH, I can feel some of your terror just by reading about it! So, so glad that God was watching over you and placed His hand over you, Linds. Yes - life can change in just a moment and you know that better than anyone, I suspect even before today. Buying plants is a perfect thing to do after something like that :) ((( Hugs))), my friend!

Angels were riding with you today!! My first thought, besides how close a call you had, was how your knee survived the whole ordeal??

I'm sorry to hear that you had this horrible experience but am glad that you were only shaken. You did have someone to watch over you today!

Oh my goodness. What a nasty experience. So glad you and your car are both still in one piece.

What a horrid thing to happen, I'm so glad you were OK.

That sounds positively terrifying. I am glad that it turned out well, but it does show you how quickly things can change.

So glad you're ok. I perfectly understand the plant-buying thing. Very sensible reaction.

I'm glad the chap did stop, and though he was clearly being an idiot, it does him some credit that he was prepared to show his face and apologise.
