Water, shopping and the quest for a bathing costume......

Ordinary life. Not part of the 31 day thingy, which I am actually really enjoying - there will be a post up later for that. I went to aquarobics at the crack of dawn this morning. Ok, 9.15. And we had a new teacher as our regular one is sunning herself somewhere on the Med right now. The class was half the normal size, and all I can say is WOW. I have never in my life had a better session in the water. She was absolutely fantastic. We were cavorting up and down the length of the pool and at the end, I went to speak to her, and told her that for the first time in years, I pushed myself way beyond the comfort zone, and I was almost in tears, because, you see, I did it. I survived. And that means so much to me.

She showed me some exercises to keep doing too, and I actually stopped on the way out and filled in one of the comment forms, begging the powers that be to give her a regular class. I will be the first to sign up. I love my normal teacher and she makes us work incredibly hard too, but this was in a class of its own. Just superb.

I should have come home and had a long nap. But life goes on, and there was shopping to be done, and metal bars to be cut. I am trying to put up a railing for a winter curtain at the back door. I have made it - lined with fleece to keep out the cold, and it just has to be hemmed, but last night I spent ages trying to saw through the pole to get it to the right length. Hah. The hacksaw went nowhere. SO frustrating. So I stuffed it in the car and went to the DIY place nearby, and asked the assistant what saw I needed to cut it. He could clearly see the gouge marks on it from my attempts and offered to do it for me. Perfect.

So, after trailing around half the shops in town with my family, we came home and I was just about to spread new pebbles over weed matting in the corner of the garden, when my son realised that he did not have a badminton racquet. As he is playing tonight, it is rather important that one actually has a racquet, so I went with him to get a new one. And here we are, still waiting for the nap. But there is food to cook, railings to put up. curtains to hem, holes need to be drilled through tiles for another railing.........

Anyway.

While I was in the sports shop, I had a look at bathing costumes. I have just one and the chlorine is wreaking havoc with the material. I swear it will disintegrate with me in it at some appalling moment. That happened to a friend of mine, you know. She was just getting out of the pool after swimming 50 lengths, and the bathing costume expired. It literally fell off her. I mean - which part do you try to cover first????? She was totally mortified. So I need another one. I had noticed that mine seems to be very loose. This is not a good omen. I have visions of imminent humiliation. But the ones at the sports shop were all speedo types. And believe me, we do not do speedo types of costumes here at RCR. Now if they came with built in upholstery, that may work. So where on earth am I going to find a costume in Autumn??? I will have to go on a quest. Before it is too late and I have to emigrate to save face.

I am off to concoct something for supper. And to ponder the memory post for the day. I will be back soon.

How do you write two posts on such a busy day? Amazing.

Well I was laughing so hard by your last paragraph...oh my! Yes, a new suit is definitely a requirement.

Glad that you had such a great session this morning. We do want to see the new curtain. Perhaps I need to consider doing something similar.

Oh what a laugh - no you don't want it falling off you when you get out of the pool....that would be somewhat undignified! For a new one you could try M&S online - I just bought some for my girls because none of the shops in ZH have any summer stock left at all. Good luck!!! Or you could always knit one :-)))))

Try Land's End, they might have some swim wear and you can mix and match with the amount of covering you desire.

I read all the time, just seldom comment. Love your blog!

I so agree... finding a decent bath suit is almost miraculous! That was such a funny last paragraph! Which part do you cover up first. I hope I never have to find out!

Have a great day!

Oh, Linds, you are so much fun. I hope you find a suit that suits you - not a task for the faint of heart! I haven't bought one in many years, and never use the one I have. I have to give you so much credit!

Swimming costume? Online! Lots of lingerie stores that also sell swimwear with varying degrees of upholstery, including some reasonably priced and slightly upholstered sports costumes. (More upholstery seems to equal higher price!) Likely to be sales at this time of year too.
