Snow yet again....

This is ridiculous. The snow keeps falling and then freezing and then snowing and then freezing and we have no grit on the roads and no snow tyres in this country and yes, I have said this all before, but it is crazy. Schools closed, people warned to stay off the roads unless absolutely essential.....

I did say this was turning into a weather blog. My life is being ruled by the weather at the moment. I cannot risk falling and damaging more of me. Enough already. So today, as it is Epiphany, the tree came down, and all the decorations are now packed away. I will miss the lights on the tree, and the warmth and cosy atmosphere the whole thing helped to create in my home. I don't have a fireplace, so I have no dancing flames to watch and so the tree did splendidly instead. Having David around to pop everything back into the loft helped too. He will be going back to uni soon, so I am making a list of things for tall strong young men to do before then!

And I have Shanghai Pork bubbling away in the slow cooker. It smells wonderful, and if it tastes anywhere near as good as it smells, I will post the recipe. I had to make the marinade yesterday and leave it to sit in the fridge overnight.

So that is my rivetting news for the day. My crochet hook is calling.

My! What a cozy state of affairs this is. Hope that you have lots of candles to burn for the look and implied warmth of them. I'm feeling conflicted about taking the tree down tomorrow, but it's making my grandmother antsy to have it up any longer. Perhaps she's embarrassed for I hear a lot about how things were done in her day.

I love a good recipe so I hope your dinner is delicious.

It sounds warm and cozy even without the fireplace.

Your weather is crazy!!!!! What is up with that? Had you known ahead of time, England could be hosting the Winter Olympics.

Yep, I have started this a.m. to undecorate the tree. I did tell my husband that I thought I'd leave it up all year because it looks so pretty. SIGH! Happy Epiphany!

No end in sight yet we are told. Have just posted on the snow here with lots of photos. At least you sound cosy and well fed.

Do stay put, dear friend! I can hardly wait for the pork roast - I am glad you bought that slow cooker!

I haven't heard a word from my British brother - maybe they're snowed in without internet, who knows??

Stay safe and warm and enjoy the yummy smells! Come on over to the old blog and see what the twos are doing to the littles!

This would probably not be the right time to read "The Long Winter" (Laura Ingalls Wilder).
I remember winters like the one you're having Linds - from when we lived up north. It really is a great time to do creative things!

Catching up on reading while I try not to fall asleep! Thought of you as we watched world-wide weather last night and praying you are warm and safe. Our thoughts also with relatives/friends in the MidWest (USA) and glad we aren't living there at the moment.
Appreciated your Psalm 46 post - God is amazing, especially when we listen to that soft, still voice. Many blessings for your New Year! Susan
