Books, birds and assorted things....

Here are the books.

The one you can't really see is A Golden Age by Tahmima Anam. I have not read any of them yet, but I did read the Summer Book by Tove Jansson which was absolutely beautiful, and I have read some of the Elm Creek Books by Jennifer Chiaverini. I love them. The couch and I will have fun over the next few days! In my fictional world, I will be travelling to America, Pakistan, Sweden, Prague, Berlin, and up north here in the UK.

I am off again to check out kitchen plans and bathroom tiles with a friend this morning. It is such fun to help spend someone else's money. I am VERY good at that. A veritable expert. I just need some gaffer tape to slap over my mouth now and then to stop from saying what I like, so I can remember to listen rather to what my friend likes! I have, however been known to say things like, "Are you OUT OF YOUR MIND?" Hmmm.

The sun is shining, and I can hear the birds in the trees. The same birds which wake me up at 4 in the morning. Every morning. And then sleep is history. Mind you, there is something particularly beautiful about the peacefulness of 4 am. Silence. Except for the birds. Dawn's early light. Quiet. Serenity. Calm. Peace. All the things I am lacking. So Who do you think wakes those birds then??

I was at a 7am meeting in Sea Point this morning listening to the sea gulls screeching!

Here, in June, the birds hardly stop. They settle down for a couple of hours and then starting singing away about 2.30 am. Mainly just outside our window.

Good question though: who does wake them? And - could whoever it is just wait until a decent hour??

Oh thanks for sharing your books Linds! I love the Jennifer Chiaverini books, and all the others look just lovely. Happy reading!!
I know what you mean about helping someone else shop. I'm always terrified I'll say how much I hate the very thing my friend absolutley loves!!

Birds? That would be lovely. I have my neighbors dogs. Neighbors both leave for work at 5am so we get dogs at 4.30 - 6.00am and (then anytime after that we venture into courtyard) and loud engines (yes, they have a car each) as they rev up to toddle off to work. Have to be honest and fess to not hearing them every morning. Birds would be nice - unless they were are screeching Australian cockatoos - now that's some wake up call.

P.s. Slept in this morning- now got a fuzzy head, aching back, furry tongue (dehydrated)and a damaged bladder. May as well skip breakfast and go for lunch. Perhaps my alarm (dogs) are a blessing!

Who wakes the birds? Why Dawn of course (isn't she beautiful?).

I love your stack of books. Mine is woefully shorter than that - I need to visit the used book store again soon.

And I love spending other people's money too. :-)

I am so glad you are having time to read - I have not heard of any of those books, but will take some notes for future reference!

Sounds like a really fun day with so many friends in and out.

I remember when I first "met" you, you were dealing with your garden and chopping things down and dragging things out. It's wonderful that someone is helping you, JUST BECAUSE. What a blessing!

Linds, I found your blog via Britt-Arnhild's great post on Sunday morning poety - and I just love your stack of books post.
