Wires and cables.......

20. Friends' sons who come to sort out my TV

Well, it is good some of my friends have sons who live round here, and who are willing and able to make things like wires work. I tried to hook up the old satellite box so we could get the free channels, and got nothing. Stupid box. Stupid wires. It had NOTHING to do with my skills, let me add. Of course not. This is Wonderwoman speaking here.

However, Duncan has just departed. He simply unplugged and plugged in all the cables and Voila, we had a picture. Hmmm. It has to be a man thing. However, I am extremely thankful he worked his magic and made it work. Just like Jean was when he fixed her heating. He did suggest that the on button really should be in the on position for that one. Some evil alien had switched it off. Of course.

Sons are great. Daughters are too actually. Mine is quite capable of sorting out the world, cables and wires included. However, she is not here. So I will borrow other people's children. Unfortunately, the tree over the road has yet to drop all its leaves, so we will not get all the channels until it does, but we are ready.

Last night, I headed for the couch at an early hour, and almost immediately, fell asleep. I woke near midnight. Not one stitch was stitched. It was a challenging day. And today has been a slow quiet day so far. Possibly just what I need. It is very cold and grey and foggy again, and the damp cold is the absolute worst.

I am going to move away from the computer now, because I feel another Amazon fix in the offing. So many wonderful books out there. Tell me, has anyone actually got a Kindle and is it good? Some of the Kindle books are so much cheaper than the real books, I just wondered......

Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

I don't have a Kindle, but I've been reading Alison at Brocante Home rave on and on about hers. So now I am interested where before I wasn't just because a blogger deep in the heart of Britain has one and has fallen madly in love with it. I am hopeless.

Yes, we waited for all the leaves to drop with great anticipation hoping to have better reception. Currently, we are blaming the lack thereof on the wind.

What is it about the next generation? They are so much more techno saavy than my own. Perhaps it is wired right into their genes. My four-year old grandson can fix things that I can not and I only wish that I were kidding here.

It's a cold and damp day here too. The WORST!!!!

We were given a Kindle for a gift and I finally got it out of the box and love it. I have loaned it to my mom and she, too, loves it. The books are there immediately after you order them and you can make the print as large as you like. So far....that is all I have done with it, but it does sooo much more.

Haven't got a Kindle, but I heard today that online book sales for reading on similar gadgets are just soaring. I wonder whether we'll still have real book 50 years hence? It's just NOT the same .... moan, moan.

We have a Kindle too, got it as a gift at the same place Needled Mom got hers. The Hubs loves it, I have not used it yet. Just been too busy sewing and blogging and whatever to read. This winter I will jump back into it again.

I like your stripey hair! Very pretty shades! My roots need to be done, I'm getting pretty faded looking these days.

I LOVE the snowflakes that you made, they are beautiful!!!!

Where is Flat Princess now?

We got a tiny bit of snow here this morning but it's all gone by now. Grandson was pretty excited to see it, probably thought we were going to be able to go out and build a snow fort! ha!

I keep saying I don't want a Kindle, but then I said that about a microwave and a garage door opener, too, in the past. I was thinking it would make reading at the gym much easier. But I don't like to buy books. I let the library do my buying. So - we'll see how the years progress on that subject.

BTW, come on over to my place for a tour of my town in a most unusual artistic way.

I still like the feel of a book in my hands but the cost is definitely a factor these days. I saw novels last week for $35.99 - which is quite out of my league but thank goodness we have a great library system here. I think Kindles are great for vacations. No need to pack 3 or 4 heavy books into your luggage! And I agree with you about the cords and electronics. Way too confusing for me! Have a quiet, restful Sabbath.
