October already......

I can't find any socks. Sigh. My feet are freezing, and my son has INCONSIDERATELY taken all his socks to uni with him. Hmph. I need a plan. I have plenty of scarves. Maybe I can wind them around my feet. Walking may not be easy though and heaven knows it is not easy to start with. I will never take walking for granted again, people. Never.

Cold. It is going to drop to about 5 degrees tonight and so help me, does not feel much more than that now. We have had hail today and for one moment, I thought it was snow. It would not have surprised me. At all.

Margaret, the gardening fairy, arrived early this morning and has tackled my garden. She is a whirling dervish, and she has created order from the chaos, and only stopped when she ran out of bin space. I hobbled outside at speed when I saw her balanced precariously at the top of my ladder trying to bring down the last of my apples. I held the ladder. I am heroic.

It is so frustrating having to watch, and not do it myself. She is a teacher, so she was quite at home telling me to get inside and sit down now and then. And then Jean arrived, and we all had coffee and chatted, and the morning flew by. It was lovely to have visitors. Margaret was really pleased to have Jean here as it kept me indoors. And out of her way. Friends are great, and I am so fortunate to have them around. Margaret is doing the garden simply because she want to do it. So sweet.

Back to socks...A few years ago, my friend in Cape Town sent me some amazing socks - I can't remember what they were made of but they were the warmest most inelegant things on earth. 100% something natural, but I have no idea what. I loved them. I have hidden them somewhere so safe that I can't find them. Hang on..... maybe they are in a box......................I am back. No. Sob. The feet are now wrapped in a blanket. I am so up on fashion here. The blanket is red. Therefore it looks warm. And I am rabbitting on here about absolutely nothing.

I need coffee.

You need a very LARGE cup of coffee. Those socks sound wonderful and I really hope you find them. I'd share mine with you, if I were there or you were here.

Yes, muckle on to a cup of coffee, Linds. If you'll email me your snail mail addy, I'll mail you a pair of wonderful socks. I really want to do it, too. They are also some very inelegant things, but you need some warmth and cheering!

Here I sit in my shorts with the a.c. running full-tilt and lots of socks in my drawer. I'd lend them to you if only you were closer by. Acutally I stopped on the way home from Bible Study to buy more sock yarn. I promised my daughter a pair. You can tell me to mind my own businessiness if you like, but maybe you could knit socks while you sit and heal! Sorry - just being a wise guy.
I'm so glad you have such sweet friends Linds. Just sit on the couch, keep your feet covered and enjoy their company!

Don't you hate to put stuff away for safekeeping and then forget where you put it? I do the same thing and it makes me hopping mad!

Bless your friends for being so helpful and considerate. But I have a feeling they know that you'll do the same or more for them if ever they need you. :o)

Hope you finally got warm. :-)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Wow, that sounds miserably cold! It's very crisp and cool in the mornings, then warms up and turns into beautiful autumn in the daytime - for now anyway. I had to laugh at your sock story - how thoughtless of your son to take his socks with him to school! I wore out DC's army socks one winter after Kristen was born, because I hated wearing shoes.

Check out Kristen's latest post - she's pretty good!

The cold thing I just can't wrap my mind around right now, here in Arizona we're still in the high 90's LOL

You cracked me up with your idea of wrapping the scarves around your feet LOL Don't you have any leg warmers laying around, maybe you could try those LOL

Lol well I do hope you finally found some socks! I hate wearing socks and my feet have to be ice cold before I will give in and put some on. hehe How wonderful that you have such lovely friends who come to help you out...I know you'd rather do things yourself but no doubt they love being able to help you out. xoxo

If I want socks I have to many times dig in a sock pile 4 ft. deep! Socks drive me crazy. But they sure do feel good, especially in nippy weather.

If I were a knitter (which alas, I am not!), I would whip up a pair and have them to you in no time. You will have to rely on the blankets, I guess. Don't you love it when you can't find things that you know you have?!!! I too suffer from that affliction. I hope it warms up where you are. I hesitate to mention that we are going up to +25 again today. Supervision at school yesterday was wonderful :)) DH and I are going for a date/drive later today and I hope the camera will be full of marvelous images when we return. Take care - I'm sending fuzzy warm thoughts and hugs to you!
